Official Health Advisory: Measles Exposure Locations

DC Health has issued a critical public health warning following the confirmation of multiple measles cases within the District. Health officials are investigating at least 12 potential exposure sites where contagious individuals were present. Residents and visitors who were at the following locations on the specified dates are advised to monitor for symptoms and contact their healthcare provider if they are not fully vaccinated:

  • Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception: January 21, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • National March for Life Rally and Concert: January 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Catholic University of America (Garvey Hall and St. Vincent de Paul Chapel): January 24 and 25.
  • Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport: January 26.
  • Washington Metro Transit Lines and Union Station: January 26 and 27.
  • Children’s National Medical Center (Emergency Department): February 2, from 11:15 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Measles is highly contagious and can remain in the air for up to two hours. Symptoms typically include high fever, cough, runny nose, and a characteristic rash.

DC Council Legislative and Oversight Hearings

The Council of the District of Columbia has scheduled two significant hearings for Friday, February 13, 2026. Both sessions will take place in Room 412 of the John A. Wilson Building:

  • Performance Oversight Hearing (9:30 a.m.): The Committee of the Whole will review the 2025-2026 performance of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG), the Office of Planning (OP), the Department of Buildings (DOB), and the Office of Zoning (OZ).
  • Public Hearing on Bill 26-419 (12:00 p.m.): The Council will convene to discuss the "Background Check Adjustment Amendment Act of 2026." This legislation aims to modify the existing protocols for employment-related background screenings in the District.

District residents should be aware of the following changes to government services and operations:

  • Georgetown DMV Closure: The Georgetown DMV Service Center remains closed until further notice due to a major water main break and subsequent flooding. Residents are encouraged to use the DC DMV mobile app or visit alternative service centers for in-person transactions.
  • Public Charter School Board (PCSB): A special board meeting is scheduled for today, February 13, at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom webinar to discuss urgent charter school administrative matters.
  • Federal Operating Status: The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has announced that federal agencies in the Washington, D.C. area are open under normal operating procedures for Friday, February 13. Employees are expected to report to their offices on time.
