Official District Roundup: Public Service Commission Notices and Health Advisories

Public Service Commission Technical Conferences

The Public Service Commission of the District of Columbia (DCPSC) has issued a notice for several technical conferences scheduled for today, Friday, February 20, 2026. These meetings are part of the District’s ongoing efforts to ensure utility affordability and regulatory compliance. Scheduled sessions include:

  • Formal Cases 1149 and 1176: The Third Technical Conference regarding Senior Citizen and Disabled Residents Rate Credits. This session focuses on the evaluation and implementation of utility rate relief programs for vulnerable populations.
  • Formal Case 1050: A general Technical Conference Meeting to address regulatory standards and infrastructure updates within the District’s energy sector.

Public Health Advisory: Ongoing Investigations

DC Health continues to monitor two significant health concerns affecting the region this February. Residents are advised to remain vigilant regarding the following:

  • Measles Exposure Investigation: Health officials are tracking potential measles exposures at high-traffic locations including Children’s National Hospital and various segments of the Metro Red and Yellow lines. The 21-day incubation period remains active for many individuals through the end of February. Anyone unvaccinated or immunocompromised who visited these sites in early February should contact their healthcare provider if they develop a high fever, cough, or rash.
  • Potomac River Water Safety: A recreational water advisory remains in effect following a major sewer line collapse. While drinking water supplies remain safe and unaffected, residents are urged to avoid all contact with Potomac River water. This includes kayaking, rowing, and fishing. Pet owners should ensure their animals do not enter or drink from the river.

Administrative and Facility Alerts

The District government has issued updates regarding administrative protests and facility availability for Friday, February 20:

  • ABCA Protest Notices: The Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration (ABCA) has officially posted protest notices for several local establishments. These include Cultura/Vera, Ellizabetta La Strega, Mr. Pollo Peruvian Charcoal Chicken II, and The Blaguard.
  • Georgetown DMV Closure: The Georgetown DMV Service Center remains closed to the public until further notice following a significant water main break and subsequent flooding. Residents needing in-person services are directed to other District DMV locations or encouraged to utilize the mobile app for renewals and registrations.
  • Sanitation Schedule: Following earlier winter weather disruptions this month, the Department of Public Works (DPW) confirms that all residential trash and recycling collections have returned to their normal Friday schedules.
