Residents are encouraged to participate in the democratic process and stay informed regarding ongoing service adjustments and infrastructure projects across the city.

D.C. Council Performance Oversight Hearings

The Council of the District of Columbia continues its fiscal year oversight cycle with several key hearings scheduled for today. These sessions allow public witnesses to provide testimony on agency performance:

  • Committee on Transportation & the Environment: A hearing regarding the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Committee on Health: Public witnesses are invited to testify regarding the Department of Health starting at 2:30 p.m. in Hearing Room 412 and via virtual platforms.

Boards and Commissions Public Meetings

Several District boards are convening today to discuss regulatory updates and community initiatives. Most meetings offer virtual access for public observation:

  • Board of Real Estate Appraisers: A virtual public meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. to discuss educational reports and pending applications.
  • Public Service Commission (PSC): An open commission meeting is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the PSC headquarters on G Street NW.
  • State Board of Education: The monthly public meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Marion S. Barry, Jr. Building.
  • Commission for Women: The group will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Health and Wellness Advisories

As part of the "Wellness Wednesday" series, the D.C. Department of Human Resources is hosting a webinar from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. focused on hypertension management and heart-healthy eating habits. Additionally, residents are reminded that the Georgetown DMV Service Center remains closed until further notice due to a previous water main break; residents should utilize the Southwest or Rhode Island Avenue locations for in-person services.

Infrastructure and Traffic Alerts

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) notes ongoing lane impacts on the I-395 HOV Bridge for concrete deck replacement. Sidewalk repair projects continue on Independence Avenue SE and New York Avenue NW, which may result in temporary pedestrian detours throughout the day.
