EVA Air to start nonstop Taipei–Washington Dulles flights June 26, expanding U.S.–Taiwan air links

New transpacific route adds a direct connection between Taiwan’s main hub and the U.S. capital region

EVA Air is set to begin nonstop passenger service between Taipei and the Washington, D.C. region on June 26, 2026, establishing a new direct link between Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). The carrier plans to operate the route four times per week, making Washington Dulles its 10th North American gateway.

The flights are scheduled to depart Taipei at 7:30 p.m. and arrive at Dulles at 10:30 p.m. local time on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The return service is scheduled to depart Dulles at 1:50 a.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, arriving in Taipei at 5:45 a.m. the following day. EVA Air has noted that flight times remain subject to official timetable updates.

Aircraft, cabin product, and capacity positioning

EVA Air plans to operate the route with a Boeing 787-9 in a three-cabin configuration: Royal Laurel Class (business), Premium Economy, and Economy. The carrier has indicated the service will feature its fourth-generation Premium Economy product, reflecting an emphasis on capturing demand for higher-yield travel on a long-haul route that links two major government and business centers.

What the launch means for Dulles and regional connectivity

The addition of Taipei–Dulles provides a new option for nonstop travel between the National Capital Region and Taiwan, reducing the need for intermediate stops commonly required on transpacific itineraries. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has publicly projected the route will generate more than $61 million in annual economic impact for the region.

The service is also positioned to connect passengers onward through Taipei, a major hub with links across Asia. EVA Air’s North American network already includes multiple U.S. and Canadian gateways, and the airline maintains interline and alliance-related connectivity that can support onward travel beyond Washington and beyond Taipei.

Network expansion continues after Dallas-Fort Worth launch

The Washington-area route follows EVA Air’s recent growth in the U.S. market, including the launch of a Dallas–Fort Worth nonstop service in 2025. With the Washington addition, EVA Air will serve 10 nonstop North American destinations, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Chicago, Vancouver, and Toronto, alongside Washington Dulles.

  • Route: Taipei (TPE) – Washington Dulles (IAD)

  • Start date: June 26, 2026

  • Frequency: Four flights per week

  • Aircraft: Boeing 787-9

EVA Air has framed the Washington, D.C.-area launch as a strategic U.S. network expansion intended to strengthen its East Coast presence and broaden travel options between the United States and Taiwan.

Tickets for the new service have been opened for sale through the airline’s booking channels ahead of the June start date.
