New transpacific link adds a first nonstop option between Taiwan and the U.S. capital region

EVA Air will begin nonstop passenger service between Taipei and the Washington, D.C., region on June 26, 2026, establishing a direct air link between Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport. The airline has put tickets on sale and plans to operate the route four times per week at launch.

The carrier plans to use a Boeing 787-9 configured with three cabins: Royal Laurel Class (business), premium economy, and economy. EVA Air says the Washington route will also be among the services featuring its fourth-generation premium economy product.

Initial schedule and operating pattern

Under the published schedule, flights from Taipei to Washington Dulles will depart at 7:30 p.m. and arrive at 10:30 p.m. the same day, operating Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The return flights will depart Washington at 1:50 a.m. and arrive in Taipei at 5:45 a.m. the following day, operating Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Industry schedule filings also indicate that departure times may vary around the route’s start date and later in the summer season, a common practice when new long-haul services are introduced and optimized for operational and connection considerations.

How the route fits into EVA Air’s North American growth

The Washington launch increases EVA Air’s list of nonstop North American gateways to 10, alongside Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Chicago, Vancouver and Toronto. The airline has said its North American schedule will total 98 weekly flights after the new service begins.

For travelers, the new flight adds a nonstop option to the National Capital Region that previously required connections via other U.S. gateways or third-country hubs. EVA Air also highlights onward connectivity over Taipei to destinations across Asia.

Local economic expectations and airport positioning

Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority leadership has publicly welcomed the service as an expansion of Dulles’ long-haul network and a new time-saving option for travelers bound for Taiwan and beyond. The authority has said the route is expected to generate more than $61 million in annual economic impact for the U.S. National Capital region, reflecting anticipated visitor spending and broader aviation-related activity.
