District Public Bodies Move Forward with Thursday Agendas

On this Thursday, February 5, 2026, several key Washington D.C. government entities are convening for scheduled sessions and public hearings. Despite the lingering effects of the major late-January snowstorm and a continued extreme cold alert, administrative operations at the John A. Wilson Building and other executive facilities are proceeding with a focus on ethics oversight and public health regulation.

Ethics Board and Trayon White Hearing

The Board of Ethics and Government Accountability (BEGA) is central to today’s political activity. The board is scheduled to hold its regular February meeting this morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Executive Building. Following the general board session, attention will shift to a high-profile evidentiary matter at noon.

  • Amended Notice of Hearing: The board will take up matter 25-0002-F regarding Councilmember Trayon White. This amended notice of hearing is part of an ongoing ethics review that has drawn significant attention from residents in Ward 8 and throughout the District.
  • Board Business: The general session is expected to cover routine ethics complaints and updates to the District’s transparency protocols for the 2026 fiscal year.

Health and Education Board Activity

The D.C. Board of Pharmacy is also holding its open session meeting this morning via WebEx. Starting at 9:30 a.m., the board is reviewing licensing standards and regulatory updates for health systems and preparedness administrations. This session is critical as the District continues to manage public health responses following the recent severe weather events.

In contrast, the Higher Education Licensure Commission announced that its public meeting (Session 26-02), originally slated for this morning, has been postponed. A new date for the commission’s review of institutional certifications has not yet been finalized.

Winter Weather and Government Posture

The political activities today occur against the backdrop of an active Extreme Cold Alert. Mayor Muriel Bowser and the District’s Snow Team have transitioned from snow removal to ice mitigation and hypothermia prevention. While D.C. Public Schools and government offices are operating on a normal schedule today, the Mayor’s office continues to urge residents to utilize the Shelter Hotline as temperatures remain dangerously low.

Earlier this week, Mayor Bowser conducted tours of new homeownership opportunities at Skyland Town Center, emphasizing that the District's development goals remain on track despite the winter disruptions. Residents looking to attend today's public meetings are encouraged to use virtual options where available due to the hazardous conditions on secondary sidewalks and residential streets.
